Working and Living

As we begin gathering data to provide statistics that demonstrate the success our EAP students experience, please join me in showcasing our students’ success stories. So many of our students are winners in one way or another. Maybe they’ve won an award or have graduated. Are they continuing their studies, or are they working successfully? We all keep up with certain students from previous classes. Why don’t we let others know what our “graduates” in EAP classes are doing?

Corina Hernandez is a young Brazilian wife, mother, and successful MDC student with a 4.0 GPA. I first met Corina as a student in EAP 1500 – Speech V. During that semester, I watched as Corina was able to balance her life as a wife, mother, and successful student. Imagine my delight when I learned that Corina had won last year’s Arts and Letters’ Day Fairytale Contest! Corina is continuing her studies at MDC and hopes to graduate in December, 2005. She told me that the story of Don Juan Shark and Golden Tail Mermaid is actually the story of her life. After winning that contest, Corina has decided to continue writing stories for children. She’s currently working on a children’s book. Fairytales do come true!
