Lady Gaga Admits She Was Bullied in High School

Lady Gaga Admits She Was Bullied in High School

Lady Gaga may be the most popular kid in the music world right now, but she she knows what it's like to be bullied.

The superstar told the ladies of The View Monday that she wasn't always so adored. Though she says she "had a nice group of friends" in high school, the "Born This Way" singer, 25, says the negative experiences she had have stayed with her long after leaving that world behind. Gaga says the bullying left her with self-esteem issues and has even touched her relationship with her fans.

"I don't think I realized how deeply it affected me until I started to become more successful," Gaga said. "And suddenly there's lots of pressure and I had to be a role model and look inside myself and say, 'Well, what do I have to offer?' Because for so many years I felt like I didn't have very much to offer."

Now, the uber-successful performer recognizes that some of her fans are having similar struggles. But Gaga says both she and her "Little Monsters" turn to the music to "find liberation from our challenges and our identity struggles."

Here's hoping those who bullied Gaga are eating their nasty words, after seeing that she's topped the almighty Oprah on the Forbes' annual "Celebrity 100" List.
